Secrets of the Thai Countryside - B28
Private tour: Every day.
Seat-in-coach tour: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday only, minimum 4 persons.
A new and unusual full day tour, exploring some rarely-visited rural areas, interesting home industries, and providing a vignette of 'unseen' Thai life, away from mainstream tourist attractions.
Admire a teakwood pavilion with its rich gold leaf murals; taste the sweetness of a palm-sugar factory's natural produce, and marvel at the miles of fertile orchards that supply fresh market produce year-round. Visit the Bencharong (five colour pottery) factory, which was chosen to craft the magnificent dinner sets presented to the statesmen and delegates of the 2003 APEC meeting in Bangkok. Then cruise slowly down a tranquil waterway on a converted rice barge, absorbing the changing images of riverside life whilst enjoying a delicious lunch on board. Later, visit a shrine hall whose walls and ceiling are decorated with gigantic woodcarvings; see a beautiful Catholic church on the river, and watch pious local people making merit by feeding hundreds of protected fish living in a canal. This is a quite different 'off the beaten track' excursion, which lovers of Thailand and Mother Nature will enjoy very much.
Lunch is included.
Tour participants will be picked up at hotels and sent back to hotels after the tour. Those staying at hotels near the airport are required to make own way to join the tour at a hotel in the central area such as the Indra Regent Hotel.
