One Day in Provence
Over the centuries, Provence was the chosen home of many. First, the Romans, then the Popes followed by many artists and, now, living there is quite fashionable. Today, thanks to the TGV, one of world’s fastest trains, you can easily discover this delightful region, the brightness of its light, the vividness of its colors and the charms of its traditions.
Transfer from the Cityrama terminal to the Gare de Lyon. Board the TGV train. After covering 700 km (440 miles) in 2h40 through Burgundy and Rhône Valley, arrive Avignon to first visit the Popes’Palace (entrance and audioguide included). Free time to stroll around the town and have a drink or lunch at a sidewalk café. Then with your guide, you will leave the banks of the Rhone and the famous Bridge of Avignon and drive on to the lovely village of Saint Rémy de Provence (photo-stop). Guided tour of the the perched village of Les Baux de Provence : free time for shopping of local products (perfumes, lavender, Provencal fabrics). Cross the Rhone River between Tarascon and Beaucaire to reach, in a well kept natural site, the “Pont du Gard”, famous Roman aqueduct dating back to the 1st century (guided visit and free time).
Transfer to the Avignon TGV station for the train departing at 8.05 PM to arrive Paris – Gare de Lyon at 10.45PM. End of services.
